Shelly Wallerstein

For more than 30 years, Shelly Wallerstein was a well known, well respected member of the advertising community in Washington, D.C. His agency was forever considered among the leading marketing firms for real estate, fashion retailing, restaurant chains and corporate image...a diversity of business acumen that kept Wallerstein Advertising fresh and competitive for twenty-five years.

Ever searching for new and exciting projects, Shelly and friends ventured into professional theater after his retirement from advertising in 1995. They created The American Century Theater in Arlington, Virginia, to give an opportunity to young talented actors to begin their careers with regional stage credits on their resumes. TACT has accumulated many awards and is, to this day, recognized for its many contributions to the theater industry. By bringing to the stage long forgotten plays and musicals from the twentieth century, TACT was directly responsible for Broadway's resurrection of TWELVE ANGRY MEN, MOBY DICK REHEARSED and THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS ON MAN-IN-THE-MOON MARIGOLDS.

Shelly began a third career in 2003, when he and his wife Marilyn purchased a home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. There his creative juices took a new turn. Studying with renowned Florida artists Gari Katz and Miroslav Antic, Shelly's unique style has taken shape as the following pages will attest. Working almost exclusively in acrylics on canvas, these powerful images place Shelly at the forefront of a new interpretation - considering how lighting affects bold, painterly strokes in the creation of adventurous portraiture.
